With massive support from crowd funding and major help from Bernie Ecclestone, the Caterham F1 Team has made it to Abu Dhabi for the season finale while Marussia F1 Team’s attempt to do the same went in vain.
As good news broke out that Jules Bianchi was out of coma and transferred to a hospital in France whilst still in “critical” condition, Marussia F1 Team who had stopped trading and had folded recently made one last attempt to race at the final grand prix of the 2014 season in Abu Dhabi. With support from Ferrari to deploy some personnel to assist the team with their engines, which are supplied to the team by Ferrari, the rescue operations of the team didn’t work out as planned.
Max Chilton, the Marussia F1 driver tweeted on the unfortunate result; “Devastated for everyone involved at Marussia in the past 24 hours that the hard work trying to get to Abu Dhabi didn't work out as we hoped.”
But instead of 9 teams with 18 cars on the grid as in Austin and Sao Paolo in weeks gone by, the grid will host 10 teams with 19 cars in Abu Dhabi. Caterham F1 team have made it to the venue just in time.
The team has confirmed that Kamui Kobayashi will be the sole driver for the team for the weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit as Marcus Erricsson has severed ties with the team to drive for Sauber next year.
Caterham are also hopeful to find a buyer for the team soon to continue in the sport for the next season.
