The highly anticipated ninth generation all-new Honda Accord which was also displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida earlier this year, may make it to Indian shores by the end of this year. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Honda may launch the Accord in November with a 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine. The ninth generation Accord has already been launched in leading global markets and may come to India with a plug-in hybrid version as well.
The 2.4 litre i-VTEC motor puts out approximately 141bhp and 306Nm of torque and will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Accord will also be offered with a plug-in hybrid version which will see a bump up in bhp and may also get an optional CVT transmission with paddle shifters. The Accord will go up against rivals like the Toyota Camry, VW Passat, Skoda Superb and the Hyundai Sonata. The new Honda Accord will also get features like a 7-inch touch enabled Apple CarPlay system, led tail lamps and head lamps, dual zone climate control, 10-way power adjustable seats with memory function, push button start/ stop and smart key, aluminum scuff plates and leathers upholstery.
The ninth gen Honda Accord looks slimmer and more compact than the previous version which was discontinued in 2013. This D-segment sedan will get a broad chrome grill up front, LED headlamps and tail lamps and 10 spoke alloy wheels. The overall design speaks of Honda's finesse and clean lines. The length of the sedan has also been dropped by about 80mm and that has resulted in a drop of 25mm in the car's wheelbase.
