After the runaway success of the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. plans to launch their sub-4 meter compact SUV Ignis before the end of the 2016. Covers first came of the Ignis at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida in February this year. The car was unveiled alongside the Baleno RS and still carries hints of the boxy design the previous version of the car had.
This sub-4 metre compact SUV will in all probability will be sold through Maruti's NEXA dealerships and should come with a starting price between Rs. 5-5.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Sigma variant. Due to the high demand for Maruti products the company may push back the launch of the Baleno RS and Ignis to the end of 2016.
The Ignis could come to India with the 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engine which powers most of their lineup. This compact SUV boasts of a boxy design with bold and striking design elements. The Ignis will also feature Apple's Car Play audio setup and will come with features like an automatic climate control, electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs, hill descent control, grip control, steering mounted controls and dual tone interiors with fabric upholstery. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with a 4X4 variant also on the cards.
