The tri-star luxury car manufacturer Mercedes Benz completed its petrol portfolio offering for the Indian market by launching the new GLS 400 4MATIC on September 7, 2016 for Rs. 82.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The SUV has been termed as the 'S-Class of SUVs' and is powered by a V6 Petrol engine thus providing consumers with an option for a diesel or petrol power GLS. It will be brought into India in CBU form and local production is expected to commence by the end of the year.
The full-sized, 7-seater SUV is powered by a 2996cc, V6, petrol motor which puts out 333hp @5250-6000rpm and churns out a blistering 480Nm of torque from 1600-4000rpm. The SUV can achieve a top speed of 240kmph and its engine has been mated to a 9G Tronic transmission. The GLS comes in with features like a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, five different driving modes -- Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Off-road and Individual, panoramic sunroof, full LED headlamps with intelligent lighting, 4MATIC permanent AWD system, AIRMATIC suspension with adaptive dampening, new generation telematics and an 8 inch high resolution media display and many safety features as well.
