The Ssangyong Motor Company (SYMC) which is a part of the Mahindra Group announced the launch of its eagerly awaited Tivoli compact SUV model in Seoul, South Korea on January 13, 2015.
The Tivoli is powered by a 1.6 litre, e-XGi160, petrol engine which produces 124.3bhp @ 6000rpm and 156.9Nm @ 4600rpm. The Tivoli is available in a 6-speed Manual as well as a 6-speed automatic transmission that delivers dynamic driving performance with shifting response that is as fast as a Dual Clutch Transmission. The Tivoli comes with a Smart Steer function which controls steering effort in three different modes -- Normal, Comfort, and Sport. The Tivoli has been priced at approximately Rs. 9.31 lakhs for the TX (M/T) version, approximately Rs. 10.22 lakhs for the TX (A/T) version, approximately Rs. 11.36 lakhs for the VX version and approximately Rs. 12.68 lakhs – Rs. 13.53 lakhs for the LX version.
The testing and development of the Tivoli lasted for a period of four years and the final product boasts of trend setting style and some of the best in class product features. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group stated that the Tivoli marked a significant milestone in the growing partnership between Mahindra and Ssangyong. He also added that the Tivoli epitomizes the spirit of ‘Korea Can Do’ and reflects Ssangyong’s rich legacy of innovation in product development.
The Tivoli has an optimized spatial design which provides excellent passenger convenience and storage. The overall width of the Tivoli is 1.795mm and has a spacious two-row cabin maximizing riding comfort, and 423 Litres of storage space. Ssangyong claims that the Tivoli is the only car in its segment which can carry up to three golf bags. The second row seats are fully foldable. The steering wheel is in a D-cut design and the instrument cluster is of a cylinder-type with six-color tones. The interiors are available in three colors -- black, beige, and red. The Tivoli comes with seven airbags, an ESP (Electronic Stability Program), a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) and LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). The Tivoli has also got a good rating from the AE-MDB (Advanced European Mobile Deformable Barrier) test. In terms of features the Tivoli has a seven inch display screen which is connected to the parking camera of the car and can also be connected to your smart phone. The SUV has 6 speakers, fully automatic dual air-conditioning system with a memory function for air volume, direction and temperature, ventilated driver seat, heated steering wheel, heated second row seats, six parking sensors, automatic washing switch and automatic hazard lights.
