Leading two-wheeler manufacturer in India, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) will be recalling 56,194 units of three of their two-wheeler models to inspect and if need be, replace, a bolt flange mounted in the front fork.
Flange bolts are bolts with a circular flange under the head that acts like a washer to distribute the load. Flange bolts are sometimes called frame bolts.
According to a press release, the company it will voluntarily inspect and if required, replace a suspected quality part in three of its scooter models – Aviator, Activa 125 and Grazia.
Honda has identified a suspected quality issue of excessive hardness in “Bolt flange 10X42” mounted in the front fork of 56,194 units of these models.
With customer safety and comfort its utmost priority, Honda as a pre-cautionary measure, will voluntarily inspect these models manufactured between 7th February, 2018 to 16th March, 2018. The company will replace the suspected part, if required, on Free of Cost basis irrespective to the affected vehicles Warranty status, the HMSI release said.
The company through its dealers will directly notify affected customers via call / e-mail / SMS for inspection of their vehicle. Customers can also check if their vehicle falls under this campaign by submitting their unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special section on the company’s website (www.honda2wheelersindia.com).
