Hero MotoSports Team Rally riders CS Santosh and Oriol Mena both have regained momentum on the 2nd day of the Dakar Rally 2018 and are keeping it steady in Stage 2.
The second stage is the first full length stage of the Dakar and comprises of a short 12kms liaison section which is then followed by a 267kms loop of Pisco. The first 40 kms of the stage was filled with tricky canyon sections. The stage became tougher with the riders having to tackle dunes after they were done with the canyons.
CS Santosh started really slow but was able to gain good rhythm, he said, “The Dakar really kicked off today with a difficult stage. The sand was really soft and some of the dunes were really massive. I had fun today and really happy to make it to the end of day 2.”
The third stage of the Dakar Rally 2018 will commence from January 8 and will move to San Juan De Marcona. Competitors will face a Chott (dry/ marshy saline lake), canyons and nearly 60pc of sand during this 504kms leg of the race.
