On the 4th day of Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare 2014 contestants made their way to the outskirts of Hospet to meet their next challenge. The day’s contest spanned over three stages across two different locations. The first stage, the Country-side leg saw the drivers speed through the 27kms long track at express pace. The super fast track presented an uneven terrain with some tricky turns meandering through villages. Also featuring several long flat stretches this route recorded the highest speeds of the rally so far. In the Windmill leg which hosted the second and third stage of the day, the drivers travelled a total distance of 175 kms.
Day four saw the same order of results as day three in the Extreme Car category as the drivers travelled a total distance of 250 kms during the day. Team Maruti’s Sandeep Sharma and Varun Davessar in their Maruti Gypsy clocked a total time of 2:37:46. Sanjay Agarwal and Venu Ramesh Kumar from Team Maruti in their Gypsy remained at the second spot with a time of 2:38:14. Nine time Raid de Himalaya champion Suresh Rana and Parminder Thakur in their Maruti Gypsy finished the fourth day at 2:40:39. Defending champion of Dakshin Dare 2013, Amanpreet Ahluwalia and Sudeep Halder maintained their 5th rank at close of day 4.
In the Extreme Bike category, for the fourth day in a row, defending champion of Dakshin Dare 2013, Natraj (2:14:21), Mohit Verma (2:22:20) and Pramod Joshua (2:25:35) came in first, second and third respectively with a display sheer brilliance on the track.
For the fourth day in a row, Team Maruti drivers Karthick Maruti and Sankar Anand led in the Endurance category with a total penalty time of just 1:59 as the vehicles traversed 200 kms around Hospet and back on day four. Grabbing the second spot, Sachin Singh and Prathima finished the day with a penalty time of 2:38. In third place were Ganesh Moorthy and T Nagarajan of Team Maruti finishing at 2:48.
