Just when we thought the different winning pattern would be over, we got to see Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa become the eighth different winner in 2016 . Three-time world champion Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda Team took a great victory at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy, beating Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP to be content with the second and third slots.
Pedrosa's win also meant that he was the eighth different winner in 2016, an all-time first since the championship began in 1949. And to top this magical moment, he won despite starting eighth on the grid. Pedrosa got an incredible start from P8 to move him up into the front group, joining Viñales, Dovizioso and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) in the squabble for P3.
But soon Rossi sprinted ahead , beating his Lorenzo at the final corner and pushing the reigning champion wide, taking the lead. But then Pedrosa who set a new lap record, took charge with an incredible burst of energy and becoming the eighth different winner in 2016 and also to win his first race of the season and his 29th MotoGP success. He also gave Honda its fourth victory from the last six races to increase Honda’s lead in the Constructor’s World Championship. Teammate Marc Marquez finished fourth in the tense, tight race to take a 43-point lead into the last five of 18 races.
The 2013 and 2014 MotoGP World Champion continued his brilliant consistency with his 13th-point-scoring ride from the 13 races so far. The 23-year-old is the only rider across all three Grand Prix classes – MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 – to have scored points at every race. His result also played its part in the Repsol Honda Team’s 26-point advantage in the MotoGP Teams’ Championship.
Pedrosa’s ride also showed the recent gains HRC engineers have made with electronics set-up, while his improved feeling with the latest Michelin tyres was also a factor.
The MotoGP paddock now has one weekend in which to catch its breath before the Grand Prix of Aragon, on September 25.
