Bengaluru for the first time
played host to the JK Tyre-MMS Rotax Kart Open and Rookie Cup 2015 on May 23
and 24, 2015. There were 24 races in total which took place over these two days
and 40 young karters competing with each other. With the sun beating down and temperatures
soaring, the karters raced perfectly to win the overall championship title on May
24. These karters represented six teams under three different classes namely,
Micro Max, Junior Max and Senior Max. This year the event witnessed participation
from three Sri Lankan racers as well.
The event took place at
Bengaluru’s new karting destination, known as Meco Kartopia. The national
champions of previous years namely Vishnu Prasad, Karminder Singh, Nikhil
Kashyap, Diljith, took charge as marshalls and ensured a smooth event.

Tyre-MMS Rotax Kart Open were:
Micro Max – Nikhil Bohra from Bengaluru, Meco Racing placed first
with 66 points followed by Ruhaan Alwa from Bengaluru, Rayo Racing with 65
points. Chirag Ghorpade from Bengaluru, Team BPC Racing finished third at 61
points.
Junior Max – Aaroh Ravindra from Mumbai, team Rayo Racing placed first
70 points followed by Akash Gowda from Bengaluru, team Meco Racing at 68
points. Mohamed Nallwalla from Mumbai, team Rayo Racing finished third at 65
points.
Senior Max - Ricky Donision from Bengaluru, team BPC Racing placed
first with 70 points followed by Nayan Chatterjee from Mumbai, team Rayo Racing
at 59 points. Dhruv Shivaji Mohite from Kolhapur, team Mohite’s Racing finished
third at 49 points.
The champions in the JK
Tyre-MMS Rotax Rookie Cup were:
Micro Max – Ruhaan Alwa from Bengaluru, team BPC Racing placed
first with 78 points followed by Aditya Swaminathan from Bengaluru, team Meco
Racing with 72 points. Akshay Bohra from Bengaluru, team Meco Racing finished
third with 62 points.
Junior Max – Aanjan Patodia from Pune, team Rayo Racing placed
first with 60 points followed by Nirmal Umashankar from Chennai, team Meco
Racing at 57 points. Kevin Perera from Sri Lanka, team Meco Racing finished
third with 55 points.
Senior Max - Mohammed Zain Ali from Bengaluru, team BPC Racing
placed first with 71 points followed by Charith Gunawardena from Sri Lanka,
team Meco Racing at 68 points. Brayan Perera from Sri Lanka, team Meco Racing
finished third with 64 points.
The newly launched track was
inaugurated by D.K Shivakumar, Minister of Energy, Govt. of Karnataka. The
event was also attended by R Bharath Raj, President FMSCI as guest of honour.
Sanjay Sharma, Head of Motorsport, JK Tyre, Akbar Ebrahim and young racing
sensation Armaan Ebrahim were present for the event.
