Motorsport India has announced the Vento Cup which will be a part of the 18th
JK Tyre Racing Championship from 2015.
the Polo R Cup, a premium one-make touring car racing series, 2015 will see the
Vento Cup as the Polo R Cup is now dead. But to serve the same purpose of
providing young racing talents a platform for showcasing and cultivating their
skills, Vento Cup 2015 will feature Volkswagen Vento race cars specially
developed for circuit racing with high performance and international safety standards.
Twenty-four drivers will be selected to compete against each other over the
championship season for the championship title.
Motorsport India entered the Indian racing scenario back in 2010 as a part of
the famed JK Tyre National Racing Championship with the first one-make series
of touring cars. Nurturing young and talented racing drivers in India for the
last five years and promoting them to the next level of racing, Volkswagen
Motorsport India has announced a shift to Vento Cup commencing from the
competitive season of 2015.
Based on the
same lines as that of Polo R Cup, Vento Cup cars will be equipped with the same
specs as the Polo R Cup cars featured. The Vento cars will be standard
production cars from Volkswagen Motorsports India with higher performance
derived from a 1.4-litre TSI engine mated with a six-speed DSG gearbox
producing maximum power of 180 PS and maximum torque of 250 Nm. The cars will
be equipped with all the safety features as prescribed by FIA such as
roll-cage, racing seat, six-point harness, fire extinguisher etc.
Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, commented “The Polo R Cup was an extremely
successful series for us. Through the series, we have nurtured over 65 drivers
till now and given sponsored opportunities to 11 drivers to far.” He further
added, “With the Vento Cup, we are moving to a car which will have improved
dynamics allowing the drivers to have a wider learning scope. The different
body style will also add to different setup of the car and will vary its speeds
as compared to its predecessor.”

races. Through our partnership, we want to further strengthen the Indian racing
are still to confirm the dates for the race weekends but the first two summer
sounds will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore followed by two
winter weekends at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR
for the final two weekends.
