It was fun time in Hyderabad
on April 5, 2015 as Infiniti Red Bull Racing gave Hyderabad a taste of Formula
One for the first time ever. Legendary 13-time Grand Prix winner David
Coulthard was at the wheel of an F1 car and he made the Red Bull F1 Show Run of
Hyderabad an unforgettable event. For once it seemed that the popular Hyderabadi
biryani had taken a back seat to the
adrenalin charged Red Bull show run.
Lithuanian freestyle stunt biker
Aras Gibieza did a breath taking opening act as he performed a dare devilish
inaugural feat. The show had its local flavour too. Indian film star Nagarjuna
flagged off the F1 car. Those present at the event were the father son duo,
actors Nagarjuna and Chaitanya, member of legislative assembly K Taraka
Ramarao, India’s foremost off-road racer CS Santosh and cricketer Varun Aaron
Driving the car across the
Tank Bund Road stretch and two times around the Hussain Sagar Lake, Coulthard
showed what the Infiniti Red Bull Racing car can do, as he reached speeds of
282 km per hour. Later, speaking about his second visit to India and driving
the F1 car on Indian soil once again, Coulthard noted, “It’s good to be back in
India. The F1 fans of this country have always given me a warm welcome. It’s my
second time here and the enthusiasm in this country has only increased since my
last visit. It’s always a special feeling to drive a Formula One car for the
sheer thrill of the fans and it was incredible to take the car for a spin at
such an iconic location. What made this show run even more special was that we
are the first team to have driven a Formula One car on the streets of
Hyderabad. This city and its enthusiasm is something I will remember long after
I return home. ”
The Showrun ended on a
memorable note with Coulthard waving the Indian flag.
Infiniti Red Bull Racing, the
four-time championship winning Formula One team, has in the past been in India
enthralling people. It set a world record in 2011 by driving on the highest
motorable road in Khardung-la, Kashmir. The same year, Daniel Ricciardo drove
the car down the iconic boulevard of Rajpath in Delhi, while Coulthard had
earlier taken the car for a spin on the Sea Link in Mumbai in 2009. The team’s
first year in the FIA Formula One World Championship was 2005. Infiniti Red
Bull Racing has won the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championship four
times (2010-2014) and they are the first and only Formula One team to achieve
50 wins in 10 years.
The Red Bull F1 Show run gives
fans all around the world a chance to witness the Formula One car up close and
personal. Infiniti Red Bull Racing has taken the car to many different
international locations – from the icy terrain of Quebec, Canada, to the beaches
of Santo Domingo, and the streets of London – in a spectacular demonstration of
the car’s prowess. The Red Bull F1 Showrun, Hyderabad marked yet another
milestone for the team.
