On the International Women’s Day, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) and Delhi Traffic Police organised a ‘Women Safety Rally,’ in New Delhi on March 8, 2015. The rally was flagged off by B. S. Bassi, Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Y. S. Guleria, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd, from Traffic Training Park at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.
More than 300 women, including Delhi Traffic Police members and women riders who had learnt riding at Traffic Training Parks in Delhi, participated in the safety-rally. The rally followed a round-robin route, commencing and culminating at the Traffic Training Park at Baba Kharak Singh Marg with detours through Gol Daak Khana, Ashok Road - Janpath Road- Regal Cinema, before culminating at Traffic Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg.
Guleria said, “It is our strong belief that strong and empowered women are the backbone of flourishing societies. At Honda we are committed towards providing physical, personal and social movement to the people and through the ‘Women Safety Rally’, we want to permeate the message of road safety among women riders by encouraging the use of helmet while riding two-wheelers.”
“The alarming trend of lower adoption of helmets among women riders is on the rise. We are hopeful such initiatives will help in creating awareness and sensitising the society towards the use of helmets. We are thankful to the Delhi traffic police for their continued support in our joint efforts for making Delhi roads safe for all,” Guleria said.
While conforming to the prescribed ISI standards, the helmets distributed by Honda also focus on style, comfort and safety; and are specially designed for women riders.
