In the days of yore, journalists used to sit and gossip at the Indian Coffee Shop in Connaught Place. Everything from politics to sports used to be keenly discussed. The coffee shop is no more and neither do journalists sit together any more to discuss anything sensible.
For those covering the automotive beat, the tradition of meeting stills continues, albeit in the cozy confines of the Volvo Lounge at theT3 airport in New Delhi. Volvo Auto India has been generous to several journalists and top leaders of the automotive world, besides its customers, by giving them an all access card to the Volvo Lounge. Thus whenever a journalist has to fly from the T3 airport in New Delhi, he or she makes it a point to step into the lounge to grab a coffee or a sandwich. These are served free. If time permits (usually flights are late), the journalists also have a whole load of newspapers and magazines to read.
But one suggestion please--do keep more magazines and brochures that have information on the gorgeous Volvo cars closer to the seats where people tend to relax!
Volvo Auto India had launched its first exclusive Lounge at the Terminal 3 Domestic Departure in March 2014.
The Lounge is located at the entry of the departure concourse next to the information desk, spread over an area of 925 sq ft having a true Scandinavian luxury experience. It focuses at the discerning travellers, helping them relax before boarding a flight and at the same time informing the customers about the pioneering concepts designed at Volvo Cars. The Lounge comes with exclusive Volvo Retail Experience (VRE). Volvo carlines are on public display at the lounge entrance accessible for all the travellers. The entry into the Lounge is only ‘by invitation’.
