One of the country's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers Tata Motors received an order for 5,000 buses from 25 state and city transport undertakings across India. This order will post a healthy growth of close to 80pc for Tata Motors in comparison with last year in the order book. There has been an surge in purchases made by state and city transport authorities indicating a renewed focus toward public transportation, safety, connectivity and comfort. Tata Motors aims to execute all deliveries in FY 2016-17.
These buses have been ordered with varying on-board customisations which focus on safety, connectivity and comfort. Buses may be equipped with CCTV cameras, Destination boards, GPS enabled on-board ITS (intelligent Transport System), Wifi, Mulit mode ticketing and on-board diagnostics. keeping passenger comfort and safety in mind these buses will also be equipped with Air-conditioning, air-suspension, low NVH systems, automatic transmission and a more spacious cabin. Over 1500 of the ordered buses will be fully built and integrated with these features, at Tata Motors JV manufacturing facility at Tata Marcopolo (Dharwad & Lucknow) and ACGL Goa.
