Ceat, a leading Indian tyre manufacturer, announced the launch of Ceat Rockrad, its first radial tyre engineered specifically for mining and rough terrain applications. With this strategic introduction, Ceat reinforces its technology credentials in the Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) segment and signals its entry into a highly demanding category with a product built to endure the harshest of conditions.
Rockrad has been tested extensively - from the challenging mines of Barbil in Odisha to the rugged terrains of Indonesia. The tyre is designed to offer enhanced durability, superior traction, and higher mileage, making it an ideal choice for load-haul operations in extreme mining conditions. The introduction of Rockrad also marks a significant push toward radialisation in the mining segment, which has traditionally been dominated by bias tyres.
A key innovation behind Rockrad is its S-Type tread pattern, which ensures improved grip and optimal pressure distribution on rough terrain. The tyre’s specially formulated sidewall compound offers exceptional cut resistance while retaining flexibility, ensuring consistent performance throughout its service life. Internal testing has shown Rockrad to deliver approximately 7% better bead durability compared to nearest competitors, in addition to improved heat dissipation and structural strength.
The tyre will initially be available in the 11.00R20 size and will be rolled out across India’s key mining belts, including regions in Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Rockrad’s longer service life also contributes to reducing material waste and supports CEAT’s commitment to driving sustainable mobility across commercial sectors.
This launch further strengthens Ceat’s Truck and Bus Radial portfolio and demonstrates the company’s customer-first mindset in addressing evolving needs of specialized applications such as mining and heavy construction.
