The International Business unit of Tata motors launched a new series of commercial vehicles. The new offering is in the Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILCV) range and has been christened the ‘Ultra’ Truck. The Ultra Truck offers superior technology and design ensuring the lowest total cost of ownership and a higher driver uptime due to increased comfort, superior aggregates and customised requirements.
Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd., said that after the launch of a world-class range of Prima trucks, they were introducing another global standard of trucks-- the Ultra range in the ILCV segment. The Ultra range boasts of stylish, futuristic and smart utility features. The new Tata Ultra range of trucks has a payload capacity between 2.5 - 6 tons available in three different options. The Ultra 912 and Ultra 812 have the Tata 497 TCIC engine which produces 123.3 bhp @ 2400rpm and 400 Nm @ 1500 rpm. The new Ultra range also has a new aluminum housing gearbox and clutch. Some of the driver-centric features included in the Ultra range of trucks are disc brakes, radial tyres, spacious cabin, suspended seats and an AC option. On the interiors, the Tata Ultra range will come with a hydraulic 45 degree tiltable cabin, sufficient storage area and a dash-mounted gear lever, an air-conditioning option and a new instrument cluster.
The Ultra trucks from Tata are said to have an enhanced power steering system with drooping characteristics which enables the vehicle to remain stable at high speeds. The seating capacity in the Ultra truck is for three people, the front has a parabolic suspension for increased comfort, the head and tail lamps have integrated LEDs. The Tata Ultra comes with a warrantee of 3 years or 3,00,000 km and also has a 24x7 road side assistance program. The Tata Ultra 612, Tata Ultra 812 and Tata Ultra 912 are the first three models from the Ultra range and have been launched in the Sri Lankan market. The Ultra variants will be available in three colours - Sardinia Red, Pearl White & Arizona Blue.
