Reaffirming its commitment to clean and inclusive urban transport, the Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, flagged off 400 new Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) electric buses from the Kushak Nallah Depot.
During launch of Delhi Government’s DEVi electric bus initiative, a fleet of 255 fully electric,9-meter PMI buses was inaugurated . Another 120 have been manufactured by India’s leading electric bus manufacturer- JBM Group. These 120 buses will operate from the Ghazipur Depot and serve neighbourhoods across the capital. Equipped with intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) these buses will offer sustainable and efficient last mile mobility across key city routes.
Under this initiative, a total of 1,456 (9 metre) PMI Electro Mobility buses will be deployed, each thoughtfully engineered for comfort, accessibility, and sustainability, ensuring an improved commuting experience while supporting the capital’s shift toward a cleaner, greener future.
Each of 255 (9 Meter) DEVi electric bus is build by PMI Electro, prioritising passenger comfort and safety. The 23-seat configuration includes six pink seats reserved for women, a dedicated wheelchair space with automated ramps, and a low-floor design with a “kneeling” mechanism to assist elderly and differently-abled passengers. Along with advanced features such as real-time diagnostics, automatic passenger counting, and air suspension to ensure efficient operations across Delhi’s bustling neighborhoods. The buses will operate from depots at Kushak Nallah and East Vinod Nagar, strategically located to serve high-demand areas.
In line with PMI’s strong commitment to gender inclusivity, the DEVi fleet also includes women drivers — a progressive step towards creating more opportunities for women in India’s green mobility ecosystem.
This initiative is also part of the ongoing expansion of Delhi’s electric mobility ecosystem, which already comprises over 2,000 electric buses currently in operation. The introduction of these DEVI electric buses is aimed at deepening last-mile connectivity, improving commuter convenience, and strengthening the city’s progress towards sustainable and low-emission public transport. With this JBM Auto now has over 650 electric buses deployed in the capital.
This occasion also coincides with a significant milestone for JBM Auto, as the company completes a decade in the public mobility domain. With a clear vision to transform the way cities move, JBM aims to serve over 20 billion passengers and achieve 3 billion electric kilometres within the next 3–4 years, delivering safe, reliable, and memorable mobility experiences. The company currently holds a robust order book of over 10,000 electric buses in various stages of deployment and execution.
PMI Electro Mobility was founded with a singular mission: to make green mobility accessible across every corner of India. Today, with a presence in 31 cities and over 2,500 e-Buses deployed across key regions — from Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh in the North, to West Bengal and Odisha in the East, Kerala in the South, and Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa in the West.PMI clocks approx. 1,00,000 zero-emission kilometersdaily and continues to redefine sustainable public transport at scale.
