Twenty-five low floor Gurugaman city buses were flagged off in Gurugram (earlier Gurgaon) by Manohar Lal
Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana. The Gurugaman bus service has been rolled
out by Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Ltd. (GMCBL) and will be in service with
immediate effect as part of the phase-1 roll out. GMCBL will be rolling out a
total of 200 such buses in various phases across the city.

These buses manufactured by
Gurugram based JBM Auto Ltd. run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and are
equipped with all modern features like Smart Card Ticketing system, Real Time
Passenger Information System (PIS), Intelligent Transport Management System
(ITMS), Automatic Bus Vehicle Location System, CCTV cameras, public address
system and stop request buttons, wheel chair ramp to name a few.
Real Time Passenger
Information System shall keep the location of the bus updated for the
passengers inside the bus and also at the Bus Queue Shelters (BQS). A toll free
helpline number - 18001806627 has also been provisioned for the convenience of
the passengers. Safety features such as CCTV cameras have been installed inside
the bus that will aid in uninterrupted surveillance of activities inside the
buses. Passengers can use the stop request button to alert the driver to stop
the bus at the upcoming bus stop. The buses have 36 seats with provision of a
wheel chair. The structural design of seats allows 20% more space for people
standing in the bus as compared to other low floor buses. The passengers can
also stand and move around at the rear of the bus, with the bus offering
adequate head room.
Public transport system in
Gurugram includes Delhi Metro, buses, taxis, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and
cycle-rickshaws. The recent introduction of Rapid Metro line, a rail-based mass
rapid transit system, has further boosted the public transit system within the
city. As an initiative by the Government, 40 CNG buses have been introduced
recently for intra-city movement and on Delhi-Gurugram route. About 100 private
mini buses operate from Gurugram bus stand to various towns/villages in the
vicinity such as Najafgarh, Bahadurpura, Maruti Udyog, IMT Manesar, Pataudi,
etc. Six- seater auto rickshaws also operate on many routes within the city.
JBM CityLife bus incorporates other utility features such as Vehicle Health Monitoring System, Fire Detection & Suppression System, Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS), etc. The buses also have features like independent front suspension, electronic braking system, CCTV cameras, public address system and kneeling mechanism, wherein the bus kneels 60mm towards the passengers’ door side to facilitate boarding and de-boarding of senior citizens, children and the specially-abled. For drivers, the ergonomically designed dashboard provides an intuitive and user-friendly system that allows drivers to concentrate on driving without distractions.
Kogel will be showcasing its
Novum generation mega trailer at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2018. This means
that the Kogel volume semi-trailer now also scores with the well-known
advantages of the Novum generation, i.e. with the optimised external frame
profile and the improved body.
Kogel Mega tips the scales at
a tare weight starting at around 6,130 kg. The new Kogel Mega is perfectly
suited for conventional standard tasks as well as for high-volume transport
use. With a clear internal height of 3 m, this volume marvel is the ideal
trailer for just-in-time business in the automotive sector. Loading and
unloading stacked pallet cages are simple, thanks to the standard
mechanical/hydraulic lifting roof. This increases the lateral loading height at
the front by 600 mm and at the rear by 500 mm to over 3 m.
In addition to the well-known
advantages of the Novum generation – such as the new air and lighting console
on the front wall, which transfers the forces into the frame via the side
members – the new external frame profile, which greatly increases the
accessibility of the VarioFix lashing points, and the variable lattice pockets
– the Kogel Mega has extensive standard equipment. The 13 pairs of lashing
shackles, included as standard, are now available with grip hooks at the sides
for easier handling, and have a tensile force of 2,500 kg. Naturally, the Kogel
Mega has the EN 12642 Code XL load-securing certificate.
Customised exhibit equipment
The IAA 2018 exhibit on
display is optionally equipped in accordance with Daimler Guideline 9.5. This
includes steel pallet limiting rails and a double front-wall bulkhead made from
a 12 mm thick and 1,250 mm high textured coated board. The exhibit also shows
the new Kogel Strong & Go body. This consists of the innovative Novum generation
body combined with a Kogel integral roof tarpaulin reinforced with stiffening
belts. Thanks to this cost-effective solution, lattices are no longer required
to comply with EN 12642 Code XL and Daimler Guideline 9.5 for the transport of
pallet cages and strapped loads. Nevertheless, Daimler Guideline 9.5 stipulates
that small-sized carriers must be fitted with lattices. Additional Kogel Mega
novelties include the Kogel Luxima multi-chamber combination tail lights and a
pallet storage box for 24 Euro pallets. Thanks to the optimised height of the
box, a ground clearance of 100 mm is now possible. To improve road safety and
prevent turning accidents, this lightweight trailer is equipped with optional
flashing side marker lights.
Wide variety of individual equipment
A modular system means that
the trademark variable body from the Kogel FlexiUse can also be used for the Novum
generation Mega. The body includes eight front settings, each adjustable by 25
mm, and four rear settings, each adjustable by 50 mm, so the body heights can
be independently adjusted by 200 mm at the front and rear. This allows everyday
goods transport with a clear internal height of 2,850–3,050 mm at the front and
rear. The Novum generation Kögel Mega can also be ordered with two 10-tonne
axles. The 1,810 mm-long centre distance ensures very quiet running. This
version also has an even lower tare weight and scores with lower operating and
fuel costs. A wide variety of customised equipment is of course also available
for the Novum generation Kogel Mega. This includes, for example, various
load-securing packages, RoRo equipment, platform gates, double rail
codification, a coil trough and much more.

Kogel Mega is given long-lasting protection from corrosion by nano ceramic and
cathodic dip-paint coating, followed by a UV coating.
The new Kogel Lightplus Coil: a plus in payload for coil transport
The completely redesigned
Kogel Lightplus Coil celebrates another premiere at IAA Commercial Vehicles
2018. Naturally, this lightweight semi-trailer for transporting coils and split
strips also has the optimised external frame profile and improved body that
characterise the kögel Novum generation trailers. The Kogel Lightplus Coil has
a particularly payload- and weight-optimised frame and body. With a low tare
weight from 5,420 kg with customised equipment and 5,790 kg in the standard
version, it is exceptionally cost-effective to drive. The technical gross
weight is 39,000 kg and the technical fifth-wheel load is 12,000 kg.
The lightweight steel chassis
frame of the Kogel Lightplus Coil is optimised for even greater payloads and
has a frame neck height of 120 mm. The Lightplus Coil is also available with
the Kogel Coilfix load-securing system as an option. The Coilfix system
consists of a tension beam, four square pipe insertable stakes with heavy-duty
hooks and receptacles for spacer tubes, two spacer tubes, plus three slings and
lashing straps for diagonal tensioning. This guarantees form-fit load-securing.
The flat contact of the tension beam and the stakes prevents damage to the
coils and split strips.
