All New Ford Endeavour has now been endowed with great off road capabilities.
The 3.2 litre TDCi engine, six-speed 4X4 automatic transmission version is the
one with a lot of great features, the primary one being a shift-fly Terrain
management System that maximises traction and stability to effortlessly stay in
unfortunately, the one we got our hands on (the 2.2 litre, 6-speed 4X2
automatic version) did not have this great feature. But that did not deter us
from having our share of fun with the vehicle. But before that, let me very
briefly tell you what the 3.2 litre fully automatic has to offer. It has a
terrain management system wherein you turn on the sand mode and you get
increased accelerator sensitivity and aggressive wheel spin. The Snow/Mud mode
enables you to shift through snow and rough gravel easily with optimised
traction and control. Extreme off-road terrain can be conquered through Rock
Mode and in this mode you can keep 4WD in first gear for superior control. Just
to add to the fun, in any mode one can view the car driveline torque, vehicle
pitch and roll easily on the dashboard. Then there are other features like Hill
Launch assist and hill descent control, etc. There is also an electric
panoramic sun roof. All of these were missing in the 2.2 litre 4X2 which we
what strikes you when you first see the all new Ford Endeavour is that it’s
like ‘The Rock’. Yes, if you have seen the movies of Dwayne Douglas Johnson you
will realise he is huge but is not intimidating. He has this great smile that

huge but has something very reassuring about it.
is no denying the fact that its robust front fascia with signature LED daylight
running lights and wide stance give it a powerful presence on the road. The 18
inches alloy wheels add on to the looks of the vehicle. The power tailgate
opens and closes at the touch of a button. It can be opened both with your car
key and with a button near the driver’s side. Another press of a button on the
tailgate ensures that it is closed. The vehicle has a 800mm water wading
ability and a ground clearance of 225 mm.
