Michelin announced the launch of the Michelin X Multi Energy Z2, a new-generation truck and bus tyre developed for Indian operating conditions and tested on Indian highways. The tyre combines fuel efficiency, superior tyre life and enhanced robustness thereby lowering the Total Cost of Ownership to help fleets improve productivity and profitability, bringing together performance attributes engineered around the evolving needs of fleet operators.
Fuel efficiency and profitability: With fuel accounting for approximately 50% of a fleet’s overall expenditure and being an important lever for improving margins, the Michelin X Multi Energy Z2 delivers up to 6% fuel savings in the 295/80R22.5 (Tubeless) dimension and up to 13% fuel savings in the 295/90R20 (Tube type) dimension when compared to leading competition which can improve fleet’s overall margin by up to 3% while reducing CO2 emissions by up to 8 tons.
Superior longevity and robustness: Michelin X Multi Energy Z2 also delivers best in class tyre life up to 25% thanks to the innovative Carbion blend, which creates a stronger, more consistent tread compound that helps tyres last longer, reducing downtime and replacement costs.
Multi Energy Z2 has 11% better summit strength compared to leading competition which helps reduce the downtime there-by increasing the productivity of fleets.
Michelin X Multi Energy Z2 combines fuel efficiency with a commitment to more sustainable mobility. Michelin’s Made-in-India truck tyres are among the most fuel-efficient in the Indian market, helping fleets reduce fuel consumption and associated emissions. The tyres are made with up to 30% recyclable materials and manufactured at the Chennai plant, one of Michelin’s greenest factories, which operates with a zero-carbon footprint and sources nearly 45% of its energy from renewables. Together, these efforts contribute to India’s broader ambitions to reduce fossil fuel dependence and lower emissions from commercial transportation.
Michelin X Multi Energy Z2 in 295/80R22.5 offers better handling in both wet and dry conditions (3) compared to leading competition in the same size. Michelin's patented InfiniCoil + technology optimises the contact patch and enhances stability over the tyre's lifespan, while a footprint area up to 5%(4) larger than leading competition in the same size, improves grip and traction.
Speaking about the launch, Shantanu Deshpande, Managing Director, Michelin India, noted, “India’s commercial vehicle sector is the backbone of the nation’s economy, and fleet owners are increasingly looking beyond the upfront cost of a tyre to its overall value throughout its life. Developed for Indian highways, the MICHELIN X Multi Energy Z2 addresses these needs by combining fuel efficiency, longer tyre life and enhanced robustness to help reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). With up to 13% fuel savings, 25% higher mileage and 11% better ply strength enabled by our Duracore technology, it is designed to help fleet operators optimise operating costs, improve productivity and strengthen their margins. At Michelin, we are committed to being a performance partner to Indian fleet owners, bringing advanced, locally relevant mobility solutions that help make every kilometre count.”
