German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen announced its commencement of production of the Tiguan SUV in India. The SUV will be manufactured at the companies Aurangabad facility. The production also marks the company's entry into a growing SUV segment in India.
First showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, the Tiguan is powered by 2.0L, Diesel, TDI engine which will be mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The Tiguan premium SUV will showcase Volkswagen's core brand elements of safety, performance and fun driving experience. The Tiguan SUV carries a very sport design with luxurious interiors as well which feature Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity and Driver Alert.
Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We are delighted to introduce one of our most successful global products to the Indian market. The Tiguan will be our premium SUV offering for India and will cater to the unceasing demand in the segment. Our customers will now have an extended portfolio, ranging from hatchback to executive sedan, to meet their requirements at our showrooms.”
