The German car maker, Volkswagen has launched the Polo GTI in India for Rs. 25.65 lakh (ex-showroom Thane). The Volkswagen Polo was a hatch that was appreciated by a lot of people for its looks and performance. Acknowledging the love of us Indians towards the Polo, the company launched the GT version of the car and at the Auto Expo 2016 they showcased the Polo GTI as well.
The Polo GTI will be powered by a 1.8 litre TSI petrol engine which can churn out around 191hp and 250Nm of torque. It can do a 0-100kmph in a matter of 6.7 seconds and take you to a maximum of 235kmph, making it blazingly fast. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed automatic DSG gearbox.
While the Polo GTI looks largely like its GT sibling there are some changes in the details. The GTI gets new sportier looking bumpers, a new spoiler and a honeycomb grill up front studded with the GTI badge.
For now the hot hatch will come to the Indian market in CBU format and in a 3 door variant only. Although a 5 door variant is expected to come if the product is received well.
