Ford’s iconic muscle car, the Mustang
is finally is ready for Indian roads. The right hand drive Ford Mustang will be
priced at Rs 65 lakh (ex showroom Delhi). The Mustang will be powered by a 5.0L
V8 petrol engine, churning out a 395.5 hp of peak power. This will be the only
version that will be available in India, though the car in the US comes with
various engine options. The left hand drive Mustangs comes with engine options
of 3.7 litre V6, 2.3 litre EcoBoost, 5 litre V8 and also in its racing avatars,
the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R, both powered by a 5.8 litre V8 engine.
Indians have to be happy with
just one engine option. This engine produces 395hp of peak power and a peak
torque of 515 Nm. Both the power and the torque are lower than the ones
available in the US. For a car with a similar engine abroad, the peak power and
torque are 435hp and 524Nm respectively. Ford will bring Mustang for customers
in India as a CBU from Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the United States
In its first year of global
availability including in RHD markets, Ford Mustang became the world’s best-selling
sports coupe. According to registration data from IHS Automotive, Ford sold
around 110,000 Mustang Coupes globally in 2015 – topping all other competitors.
The Ford Mustang will be available
in six colour options -- Absolute Black, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Triple
Yellow Tricoat, Magnetic and the signature Race Red.
Sporting a sleek design, the
new Ford Mustang features 19-inch wheels, automatic HID headlamps, LED tail
lamps, a rear diffuser, dual-zone climate control, 9-speaker sound system, and
voice-enabled SYNC 2 connectivity with an 8-inch colour touchscreen as standard
The Ford Mustang will go on
sale in Delhi and Mumbai in the first phase.
