Datsun India unveiled its newest addition to the Indian Portfolio the Redi-Go in New Delhi. This highly anticipated Urban Cross compact hatch will hit Indian roads by July 1, 2016 and will be available for pre-bookings by May 1, 2016. The Redi-Go shares its Renault Nissan Alliance platform with the previously launched Renault KWID and will be powered by the same 799cc petrol motor.
The expected fuel efficiency of the Redi-Go is expected to be around the 25kmpl mark and should be priced a tad below Rs. 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) price as that of the Renault KWID.
The Redi-Go has a striking ground clearance of 185mm which is comparable to a few SUVs on Indian roads. The new compact hatch from Datsun will also be lighter than the KWID by almost 20-25kgs while its wheelbase will be shorter than the KWID by almost 70mm. The engine in the new Redi-Go has been mated to the same 5-speed manual transmission found on the KWID.
The 799cc engine makes 53.3bhp at 5678rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4386rpm. The new Redi-Go will be 3430mm long, 1540mm high and 1560mm wide. The vehicle Redi-Go features simplistic interiors with an air conditioning unit and a USB/ AUX enabled audio system. The compact hatch will also come with LED DRLs and will be available with a driver airbag for the top variant.
Guillaume Sicard, President, Nissan India Operations, said, "Datsun's growth strategy in India will continue to reflect our commitment to local engineering, development and manufacturing. The Datsun Redi-Go, as a tangible expression of this commitment, offers several best in class capabilities. It is created to bring fun, free and confident thinking to the otherwise traditional compact hatchback segment."
