Volkswagen India unveiled the new Volkswagen Ameo, the first compact sedan by the brand. The Ameo will make its world premiere at the 13th Auto Expo 2016 - The Motor Show to be held in Greater Noida. The Volkswagen Ameo will be available in a 1.2L 3-cylinder MPI petrol variant and a 1.5L 4-cylinder TDI diesel.
The Ameo has been designed and engineered for the Indian market and will be manufactured at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan, Maharashtra. The Indian car market has been witnessing a range of sub-4 meter sedans being launched and the Volkswagen Ameo has been designed to fit right into the compact sedan segment in India.
The petrol 1.2L MPI engine will be mated to 5-speed manual gear box and the 1.5L diesel TDI engine will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission as well as a 7-speed DSG transmission. All variants of the Ameo will come equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard. To add a touch of comfort and convenience the Volkswagen Ameo has also been equipped with first in segment features like cruise control, rain sensing wipers, static cornering lights and a touch screen multimedia music system with Mirror link, I-pod connectivity, phonebook & SMS viewer.
