After announcing an investment of US 1 billion dollars over the next five years, General Motors India has renewed its conquest of the Indian market by launching the new Chevrolet Trailblazer. The SUV will be available in India in CBU form and will cost Rs. 26,40,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Trailblazer LTZ (2WD AT) variant will be available for the Indian market and is being imported from Thailand.
In another first, the Trailblazer can now also be booked online through Amazon.in at a cost of Rs. 25,000. The SUV comes with a 2.8 litre turbocharged, in-line 4 cylinder, Diesel engine which produces 197.3bhp @3600rpm and 500Nm @ 2000rpm. The Trailblazer will go head to head with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu’s MU7. The Trailblazer has one of the best in class dimensions and ground clearance apart from having the most powerful engine in its segment.
On the occasion of the launch Arvin Saxena, President & Managing Director, GM India said, “it has a commanding road presence and a host of first-in-class features along with the latest technology and design”. The trailblazer will come with a host of unique features like projector headlamps, ceiling mounted air-con control units, 6-speed automatic transmission and a 7 inch touch screen infotainment system.
On the safety front the SUV has dual airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), cornering brake control (CBC), hill start assist, hill descent control, traction control, panic brake assist and hydraulic brake assist.
Jack Uppal, VP Marketing & Customer Experience, GM India said, “The Trailblazer will enable our customers to own a true global SUV. True to its name, the Trailblazer will lay the path for nine new Chevrolet vehicles to be launched in India over the next five years”.
