The world’s first mega car, the Koenigsegg One:1 has now destroyed the record of 0-300-0kmph with a time of 17.95 seconds.
The previous record for the acceleration and deceleration record was held by the Koenigsegg Agera R driven by Koenigsegg’s very own test driver, Robert Serwanski. Serwanksi this year took the One:1 mega car to their Angelholm Test track in Sweden where he his team and Christian Von Koenigsegg himself were running test to beat the record set by themselves with their older Agera R model.
The Koenigsegg One:1 is the world first mega car because it produces 1360bhp which equals to 1MegaWatt of power and weighs 1360kgs when it is completely brimmed up with fluids and half a tank of fuel. This gives it a power to weight ratio of one horse power per kilogram, hence the name One:1. The car is powered by an in-house built Koenigsegg aluminium 5,0L V8 engine that produces 1371Nm of torque and Koenigsegg claims it can do 0-400 kmph in just about 20 seconds and back down to 0 in 10 seconds more. The car is completely hand built with groundbreaking technology and made complete of carbon fibre and aluminium.
The Agera R previously held the record for 0-300-0kmph in 21.19 seconds. The video shows with the help of the V-BOX data, that the One:1 was able to achieve the record in 17.95 seconds. 3.24 seconds quicker than their previous record from 2011. What was more astounding is that Serwanki did it without his hands. The traction control in the One:1 is so sophisticated that you just don’t need to use your hands at all to steer the car. Serwanki only floored the throttle and then after crossing the 300kmph mark jammed the brake pedal, it was all that was required and the video proves it.
