Honda has unveiled the “Ultra-Sporty” new Civic Concept in New York. The new concept shows how the upcoming 10th generation of the Civic will look like. The Civic will be available as a Sedan, Coupe and Si models along with the much loved Civic hatchback and the highly coveted Type-R hot hatch.
The Civic in the American market will come for the first time with Honda’s new 1.5 litre VTEC turbo engines from their Earth Dreams Technology division with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a more sporty continuously variable transmission (CVT). Exact engine specifications haven’t been released yet.
Some dimension attributes of the car have been mentioned like the Civic will have a longer wheelbase a lower height and a wider stance. The front bonnet will be longer with a shorter overhang.
The new Civic will also get levels of safety performance and will offer the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, including Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Multi-Angle Rear view Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Honda Lane Watch, along with Honda’s next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure.
