After much ado, Honda has finally revealed some technical data of the 2015 Honda CR-V diesel powered car. Honda will use a 1.6 litre diesel engine with a nine...yes NINE!-speed automatic transmission.
According to Honda, the new diesel engine and nine-speed automatic gearbox deliver best power-to-consumption ratio of any engine in production today.
The CR-V hasn’t made much of an impact in price sensitive markets such as India without the diesel engine. Now that a diesel is in the offering, maybe the future of the CR-V seems brighter. The 2015 CR-V is available with a three engines in the UK, comprising two 1.6-litre diesel engines (157bhp and 118bhp) and a 2.0-litre petrol engine (152bhp).
All-new 157bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine is a four cylinder unit paired with a new two-stage turbo produces 350Nm of torque when mated to the 6-speed manual transmission. Also available is a newly-developed nine-speed automatic transmission replacing the previous five-speed automatic. Weather the nine sped transmission will make its way into India, still remains to be seen. The petrol engine is also available in four- and two-wheel drive, carried over from the previous CR-V. The 2.0-litre i-VTEC has a maximum power of 152bhp and 192 Nm of torque.
The new-look CR-V has been developed and engineered for British drivers and will be available in showrooms from Spring 2015. The Indian arrival of the diesel CR-V is also expected to take place this year in 2015.
