Audi India has launched its entry level compact luxury
sedan, the Audi A3 which also won the title of “World Car of the Year 2014”, at
a price tag of Rs.22.95 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) for its base model diesel version.

The sedan is available in two options a 2.0-litre 35TDI diesel
and a 1.8-litre 40TSI petrol versions, both of which are mated to an S tronic
dual clutch transmission, a seven speed gearbox for the petrol version and a
six speed automatic for the diesel version. The 1.8-litre 40TSI engine delivers
177.5bhp while the 2.0-litre 35TDI diesel delivers 141bhp of power. The petrol
motor covers a speed of 0-100kmph in just 7.3 seconds while the diesel takes
8.6 seconds. The petrol version is a bit more expensive at Rs.28.95 lakh
The launch of A3 is set to cover a whole new segment of cars
and Audi has a most desirable first mover advantage over competitors. Despite
the price tag being very competitive, Audi has not compromised on quality and functionality
of the car which has been equipped with Bi-Xenon headlamps and Daytime-running
LEDs, a 7 inch multimedia retractable display, navigation with 3D maps,
dual-zone climate conditioning, a rear view camera, a panoramic sunroof and
electronically adjustable front seats. The car comes with 17 inch alloys and is
equipped with 7 air bags for safety and passenger protection.

is a combination of sportiness, emotion and progressiveness which makes it a
perfect representation of the Audi Sedan Line”. A3 has been launched as a
competitor to BMW’s 1 series and Mercedes-Benz A-class, both of which are
hatchbacks. With the addition of a boot (425 litres) the A3 has opened up an
all new market for luxury compact sedans, giving competition a tough fight.
