US based electric car manufacturer Tesla has announced that the new Tesla Experience Center in Mumbai, India has opened. Tesla has announced that the Model Y, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle in 2023 & 2024, redesigned will be making its debut in India, in two trims, the rear-wheel drive and long range rear wheel drive.

The redesigned Model Y combines range, performance, safety, and technology. Model Y offers 2,130L+ of cargo space, providing versatile seating and storage for up to 5 passengers with their belongings with power-fold seats. With ultra-responsive motors, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, boasting a range of up to 622 km (WLTP). Prices for the model start at Rs 59,89,000.
Model Y comes with a bespoke cyber design - the new cross car lightbar at the front and the all-new rear light bar and tailgate are inspired by the Cybercab and Cybertruck respectively, giving a symbolic and futuristic look to the world’s top vehicle.
Customers will now be able to customise their Model Y from the vehicle’s exterior, interior and even its features. Vehicles will be produced specifically produced based on their requirements. Initially registration and delivery will start from Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram.
The Model Y is expected to begin deliveries in Q3 2025. As part of Tesla's commitment in India, the company will continue to develop the experience center, service and support, and charging infrastructure in the country, aimed at delivering a seamless Tesla ownership experience. Tesla designs, manufactures, deploys, owns, and operates the world's largest and most reliable fast charging network. The first indoor hybrid station, with Superchargers and Destination chargers will open soon. Tesla's plan includes opening multiple Supercharging stations and destination charging stations at strategic locations to cover popular destinations across the country and will be announced in the future, reinforcing Tesla’s commitment to enabling convenient and efficient long distance travel for Tesla vehicles across the region.
In the 2024 impact report, it was announced that the Supercharging network had an uptime of 99.95%. With Tesla Supercharging, Model Y, operating at peak efficiency of 250 kW, can charge up to 267 km in 15 minutes and can be paid for or managed through the Tesla app. To further enable the transition to sustainable energy, Tesla will be providing a free wall connector with purchase of a new Tesla to be installed in customer’s residences, allowing customers to wake up with a fully charged Tesla daily, saving them trips to the gas station at a lower cost per mile.
