At a time when electric vehicles are trying to make a significant foothold in the passenger vehicle segment in India, Pravaig, an electric vehicle company founded in 2011 has launched the country’s first made-in-India electric SUV in two models, Defy and Veer. This Bengaluru based company specialises in making electric vehicles, batteries and AI solutions for autonomous vehicles. Reservations for Defy are now open at https://pravaig.com/reserve for an amount of Rs 51,000. The introductory price of Defy is Rs 39,50,000. The waiting period is at 9 months currently.
The Defy model is a powerful long range civilian edition, while Veer is the off-roading military version. The company claims that these powerful machines have an exceptional range and are safer and lighter than most EVs.
Currently, Pravaig is bringing together world class technologies to build India’s first and only feature-packed electric premium car with distinguished elements such as private, open-source and decentralized technologies and the most ecologically responsible and the one of the lowest carbon footprint car solution in the world.
The electric vehicle has a length of 4.96m, a peak power of 402bhp, a peak torque of 620Nm and has a range of more than 500km. Fast charging ensures 0 to 80% in 30 minutes. With a dual motor, an all wheel drive, remote servicing assistance, a 250,000 km battery life, top speed of 210 kmph, 0 to 100 kmph in 4.9 s, this vehicle comes with upgradable software and hardware.
With a smooth suspension, the electric models have a ground clearance of 234mm, water wading limit of 900 mm, leg room of 1215 mm, 6-way electronic captain seats, expansive panoramic moon roof and use technologies built and perfected in India.
The Pravaig “skateboard” platform locates the large battery in the centre of the floor of the vehicle, thus lowering the centre of gravity for better dynamics. The “Brutal Sophistication” design of the Pravaig is rooted in its all-electric architecture and comes to life on every surface.
“Pravaig is the only company focused on Right of Repair, Upgradability, and Data protection, an unmet need of users in Europe and USA. We believe that Defy Technology represents the future direction of all EV technologies" said Siddhartha Bagri, CEO of Pravaig, adding that "Defy makes this technology available for the first time to a broad audience - at a price unavailable from any other manufacturer. After combustion engines, and connected cars, we expect Defy to become the third industry standard. It is among the lowest carbon footprint car solution in the world."
Brilliant screens, and 5G streaming, combined with a silk smooth UI, are some of the other features, unleashing the physical impact of ultra-dense sound with more power, clarity, and precision. Devialet has crafted an incredible listening experience for Defy with their signature implosive sound. The Defy is highly personalised with 9 exterior paintwork colours and 5 interior trim colours. A host of other personalisation options & accessories are available.
With Home Chargers, Pravaig is partnered with the leading charger operators, available in every part of India. Initially, 85 percent of Defy reservations will be made directly on the Pravaig website. Defy will also be sold through Pravaig's authorised partners.
