Motors India has officially launched the Kia Sonet sub 4 metres compact SUV at
a starting price of Rs 6,71,000. The Kia Sonet comes in two trim lines- Tech
Line and GT Line. While the Tech-Line
will have several variants, the GT-Line will have a single top end variant,
both for the petrol as well as diesel models.
Kia Sonet will be a ‘Made in India’ vehicle for India and the world. The Kia
Sonet has already garnered 25,000 bookings to date. The Tech-Line offering will include HTE, HTK,
HTK+, HTX and HTX+ variants, while the GT-Line will only come with GTX+
Kia Sonet will have the following engine options: Two petrol engines –Smartstream
1.2-litre four-cylinder and 1.0 T-GDi (turbocharged petrol direct injection) /
Two diesel engines –1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine (WGT & VGT configurations).
Sonet comes with five transmission options; this includes five- and six-speed
manuals, a seven-speed DCT, six-speed automatic, and a new six-speed
Smartstream intelligent manual transmission (iMT). For the first time in this
