Isuzu Motors India has launched the
2019 facelift of their mu-X SUV. The car has been priced at Rs 26.26 lakh and
Rs 28.22 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad) for the 4X2 and the 4X4 variant
respectively. The new avatar of the mu-X gets a fresh front and rear design and
6 airbags while retaining the same mechanicals as before. Isuzu’s brand
ambassador and ex-cricketer Jonty Rhodes was present at the launch along with
his wife and two kids.
The 7 seater SUV’s design has been inspired by an eagle and
now comes with smart looking LED DRLs. There is also a Bi-LED auto leveling
projector headlamp but apart from that not much has changed. On the side you
get large 18-inches multi spoke twist design diamond-cut alloy wheels that look
smart. The rear gets redesigned tail-lights, two-tone spoiler and a shark fin
antenna with gun metal finish. Keeping in mind the versatile nature of the SUV,
the ground clearance has gone up to 230mm which is 10mm more than the previous
version. On the inside is a new ‘Lava Black’ finish, Passive Entry and Start
Stop System (PESS), a reworked MID and 8 speaker surround sound system.
At the event, Jonty Rhodes stressed on how safe the car was
for his family with the addition of 6 airbags. The car also has other safety
features like ABS with EBD, TCS, EBA, ESC, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent
Control and rear parking camera. As mentioned earlier, the new mu-X retains the
same 3.0L Ddi VGS Turbo diesel engine that is good for 174hp and 380Nm of
torque which will deliver a similar performance to that of the outgoing model. There
is a 5-speed Sequential Shift automatic transmission and the ability to switch
to 4X4 on the fly. The new Isuzu mu-X comes with 5ECURE package which provides
5 years warranty and 5 years free periodic maintenance of 1,50,000km (whichever
