Ford India has launched their latest compact utility vehicle (CUV) for a starting price of Rs 5.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Ambient petrol variant. Based on the Figo platform, the Freestyle gets two powertrains - a new 1.2l petrol and 1.5l diesel. The petrol motor produces 94.6hp of peak power and 120Nm of torque while the diesel churns out 98.6hp and 215Nm of torque. Both engines comes mated to a all new 5 speed manual transmission.
The Ford Freestyle gets a wider track than the Figo and has a ground clearance of 190mm and 15-inch tyres with black alloys. This combined with roof rails and skid plates at the front and rear give the vehicle an off-road character. For safety, the car comes with two airbags as standard and goes up to 6 airbags in the top end models. It gets a bunch of driver aids including active rollover prevention (ARP), traction control, anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), electric power assisted steering and hill launch assist.
The Freestyle also features Ford’s in-car infotainment system, SYNC 3 with a 6.5-inch touchscreen and conversational voice commands. SYNC 3 system can be used to connect your smartphone to the cart's infotainment system and supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
