The new Volvo V60 estate has been built on the
Swedish company's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, shared with the
new XC60 and four 90 series Volvo cars. These products constructed on the SPA
have also been the driving force behind Volvo's global success.
The new Volvo V60 estate features a luxurious
interior, increase space, advanced connectivity options as well as Volvo's
multi faceted safety suit including their latest driver support systems. Volvo
has also introduced a first in segment option for the Volvo V60 buyers - Care
by Volvo, which offers car access via a monthly flat-fee subscription.
In a bid to move closer to the company's
announcement of electrifying all new cars from 2019, the V60 comes with two
plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The V60 estate is powered by a new T6 Twin
Engine AWD petrol plug-in hybrid which is capable of producing 340hp and the T8
Twin Engine AWD petrol plug-in hybrid that delivers 390hp.
Other engine options available are the T5 and T6
petrol engines and for drivers who prefer diesel, the D3 and D4 diesel engines.
Volvo will also be offering a comprehensive list of safety features that come
in as standard on the new Volvo V60. This will include an advanced driver
support system from the 90 series of cars and also on the XC60. Also on offer will be Volvo's City Safety with
Autobrake technology which uses automatic braking and detection systems to
avoid potential collisions. It is also the only system in the market which is
capable of identifying pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. The City Safety
feature now also engages auto braking to mitigate oncoming collisions.
Volvo is also offering the Pilot Assist system on
the new V60, the system supports the driver with steering, acceleration and
braking on well marked roads till upto speeds of 130kmph. This has also been
upgraded with enhanced cornering performance. Additionally the V60 gets Run-off
Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation and other steering based assistance
systems. Optionally, the V60 also gets Cross Traffic Alert with auto brake to
improve safety for people in and outside the car.
