India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has teased the design of its new compact car concept which will be previewed at the Auto Expo 2018. The new compact car design language has been termed as Concept Future S which is slated to be a uniquely styled compact car.
The Concept Future S will have a bold presence as it gets a distinct SUV like character. The company has stated that the Concept Future S will beautifully carry forward the slogan 'Compact is beautiful' as it moves away from conventional compact car proportions and aims to redefine compact car design language in India.
Design cues from the sketch released by Maruti Suzuki hint at an upright stance, commanding seating position and high ground clearance. The sketch also hints at a horizontal hood giving the compact car a unique aggressive stance and posture.
Commenting on the Concept Future S, CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. said, "The increasing preference for UVs and their bold architecture inspired our design team to study a new character for compact cars. Concept Future S could mark a distinctive shift in how compact cars are shaped and designed in India in the future.” The compact car's SUV like image is created with a bold and upright front. The sketch features a unique A-pillar design connecting to the accent on the side sill. The concept also hints at a powerful shoulder line and raised rear section with a stretched C-pillar.
Maruti Suzuki's design team feels their Concept Future S is a perfect example of an evolution in design in terms of the compact car's proportions, body sculpting, patterns and accent colours. The Concept Future S will be premiered at the Delhi Auto Expo 2018 which will take place early in the month of February.
