Michelin has launched its high performing Pilot Road 2 and Pilot Street Radial for motorcycles above 500cc and between 250- 500cc respectively. The Pilot series happens to be the first ISI marked radial tyres in the country for two wheelers. Speaking at the occasion, Pradeep Thampy, Commercial Director-Motorcycle & Scooter tyres, Michelin India, stated, “The leisure and recreation motorcycling segment is only going to increase, with industry analysts pegging the annual growth at 25pc. Michelin Pilot Road 2 and Pilot Street Radial will cater to the needs of this growing market”.
Michelin Pilot Road 2 is priced between Rs. 8,772 to Rs. 12,808 and Michelin Pilot Street Radial range between Rs. 4,502 to Rs. 5,927. Michelin Pilot Road 2 is designed for motorcycles above the 500cc capacity, with sizes 120/70 ZR 17, 180/55 ZR 17 and 190/55 ZR 17. These tyres feature 2-compound technology, which implies soft compound rubber on the shoulders for grip while cornering and harder compound rubber in the centre for increased mileage. These tyres also excel in wet grip with carefully designed grooves channelling water to the sides for increased grip and stability. Michelin Pilot Street Radial will perform duty on motorbikes in the 250-500cc capacity with sizes 110/70 R17, 130/70 R17 and 140/70 R17.
