With the 12th Auto Expo just round the corner, Hero MotoCorp has grabbed attention towards itself by unveiling 5 new models, the highlight being the new diesel scooter concept called RNT and the HX250R, a 250cc sport bike. The RNT is a combination of ruggedness and practicality topped with fuel efficiency and technology. The concept is equipped with a 150cc diesel engine, which can be coupled with a turbocharger as an option. Also there is an optional electric motor for the front wheel, making it a two-wheel drive scooter to muster difficult terrain. Another highlight on the RNT is that is has a power take-off (PTO) shaft.
The HX250R is a 250cc liquid cooled sport motorcycle. The bike has a kerb weight of 139kg and a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. Other goodies include anti-lock braking system and an under-seat exhaust. LEAP is a hybrid scooter which couples a 124cc petrol engine with an 8kW electric traction motor. The scooter gets aerodynamic styling and all-LED lighting. Another scooter which is nearly ready for production is the 111cc DASH. The final model is the new Xtreme Sports, with a 150cc single producing 15.2bhp of power. Pawan Munjal, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Hero MotoCorp Ltd. Stated, “This is yet another example of the India story. There’s more to come, a slew of products, including new concepts which you will get to see at the Motor Show in February”. The Xtreme will see production in the first quarter of the next fiscal year, with the Dash following in the next quarter, and the Leap and the HX250R in the latter half of the year.
