Lambretta, a brand that was popular in the Indian scooter market decades ago, could make its way into India soon, of reports are to be believed. The scooters were initially manufactured in Milan, Italy, by Innocenti and Innocenti S.A. based in Lugano, Switzerland is the owner of the international trademark Lambretta and has licensed the brand throughout the world.
Lambretta scooters were assembled in India till the early ’90s by Automobile Products of India (API). In 1972, the Indian government bought the machinery of the factory in Milan, creating Scooters India Limited (SIL)
Lambretta showcased the V50 Special, V125 Special and V200 Special. Each of these come in two variants, a fixed fender and a flex fender. All thre models share the same platform and are powered by a four-stroke engines. The new range of Lambrettas will be built in Taiwan and will go on sale in Europe in early 2018. While the V50 Special is powered by a 50cc engine, the V 125 Special has a 125 cc engine and the V200, a 169cc engine.
