Celebrating its 115th Anniversary, Harley-Davidson launched four new Softail models in India. The motorcycle manufacturer has launched the Street Bob, Fat Bob, Fat Boy and Heritage Classic Softail motorcycles in India. While the Street Bob has been launched for Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Fat Bob has been launched for Rs. 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Fat boy has been launched for Rs. 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and the Heritage Classic for Rs. 18.99 lakh.
The bikes were launched in the presence of Peter MacKenzie, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India and China.
The new lineup of bikes from Harley are 34pc stiffer than the previous ones, thus offering more control and stability to the rider. The bikes are powered by Harley's Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine which is the companies ninth powertrain. Harley has also drastically cut the weight on all of these motorcycles and is now offering bikes which are lighter and easier to ride. The company has managed to shed 16kgs from the Fat Boy, 17kgs from the Heritage Classic and 15kgs from the Fat Bob. This has been achieved using a stiffer and lighter steel frame and swingarm along with premium front and rear suspension setups.
The range of Softail motorcycles have been developed under the largest product development project in the company's history. The bikes have been built to harness high torque outputs which are belted out from the new dual-counterbalanced Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine. These motorcycles have been designed to be faster, lighter and better handling than any of their predecessors. They feature high performance dual bending valve front suspension and easy to adjust hidden rear monoshock suspension.
