Finally, the covers are coming off India’s first electric motorcycle which promises to be fast like any 125cc motorcycle and travels more than 100km on a single charge. The T6X electric motorcycle will be unveiled by Tork Motorcycles in Bengaluru on Sept 30, 2016. The T6X is India’s first premium long range powerful electric motorcycle.
Kapil Shelke, Founder and Director of Tork Motors, will be talking about the T6X, its making and the work that has gone behind making India’s first long range powerful electric motorcycle for the connected user.
Production for T6X is expected to commence by the end of 2016. Though electric two wheeler manufacturers in the country like Hero Electric and Lohia Auto are into the making to electric scooters and scootys, these companies have yet to launch an electric motorcycle in India. Hero Electric showcased its electric motorcycle a few months back but the bike has yet to be formally launched.
Kapil Shelke is a mechanical engineer who started his company in 2009 and was funded by several tech entrepreneurs in their personal capacities. The company initially focussed on racing their electric bikes that they developed in house in various esteemed races across the world. These races included the Isle of Man TTX-GP, TTX-GP Championship and the 400-metre drag race - demo run at Valley Run. Since then the company started to focus on building the first electric motorcycle. The T6X will be comparable to a 125cc bike and is expected to have a top speed of 95 kmph.
