The new Vespa Elegante which generated a substantial amount of hype in the scooter market was unveiled on September 16 , 2014 in Pune by Piaggio Vespa. The new Vespa Elegante will be a limited edition offering from Piaggio and is soon to be launched in India. The existing Vespa scooter prices start at Rs 67,000 and goes up to Rs 75,000.
The new Vespa Elegante will be available in two new metallic colours – Marrone Crete Senesi (brown) and Bianco Perla (white). The Elegante will now also be offered with a helmet to match the colour of the scooter. It will also have colour coordinated leather finished twin seats, an all round chrome guard kit and a limited edition Elegante badge on it.
On the mechanical front the Elegante has not witnessed any changes from the VX variant of the scooter. The new Vespa Elegante has the same 125cc, 3-valve engine which produces 9.9bhp of power and 10.6 Nm of torque which has been mated to a CVT gearbox. As most rides of this sort are known well for being economically viable options, the new Vespa Elegante will be no different returning 46km to the litre which combined with an 8.5 litre tank gives a really good range to the scooter.
The scooter has been built on a monocoque steel frame and the front has a trademark single sided suspension found on the Vespa. The Vespa has disc brakes in the front and drum brakes at the rear. The scooter comes with tubeless tyres. Piaggio has not announced the price of the new Vespa Elegante yet, so stay tuned to this space for more details.
