Ather Energy has announced the rollout of Infinite Cruise on the Ather 450X, further expanding its software-led features across its product lineup. The feature is being enabled through an OTA (over-the-air) update and will be available as a standard feature. The update is communicated to riders through an on screen notification on their scooter dashboard. The Ather 450X starts at 147,998 (ex-showroom) in Bangalore.
Infinite Cruise was first introduced on the Ather Apex 450 in August 2025 at the Ather Community Day and has been developed specifically for Indian riding conditions. While conventional cruise control systems are designed for steady highway speeds, Infinite Cruise is engineered for everyday urban riding, where scooters typically operate at speeds below 30 kmph and navigate dense traffic, uneven roads, and frequent speed changes. Unlike traditional cruise control systems that disengage when the rider brakes or accelerates, Infinite Cruise remains persistently active. Once enabled, the system dynamically adapts to the rider’s inputs, recalibrating to the new speed without requiring repeated activation. This allows riders to continue cruising through stop-and-go traffic with reduced throttle intervention and lower riding fatigue.
Infinite Cruise operates between 10 kmph and 90 kmph, enabling cruising at city speeds that are traditionally outside the scope of cruise control systems. The feature integrates CityCruise, which adapts to changing speeds in traffic; Hill Control, which maintains a steady speed on inclines and descents by compensating for load changes and leveraging regenerative braking through Ather’s Magic Braking Algorithm; and Crawl Control, which enables stable low-speed cruising on rough or uneven roads, supported by Multimode Traction Control for improved grip on wet or slippery surfaces.
As part of Ather’s continued effort to improve ownership experience on existing scooters, the Infinite Cruise feature will also be rolled out to over 44,000 Ather 450X customers who purchased their scooters from January 1, 2025 onwards, reflecting Ather’s focus on backward compatibility and long-term product support. Ather has achieved the backward compatibility of the Infinite Cruise given its long term vision on product planning and the hardware choices taken during the development of the 2025 450 series. Infinite Cruise™, paired with Multi Mode Traction Control and Magic Twist, makes city rides safer and more engaging and elevates the cruising experience on an Ather 450. Ather continues to build its scooters as evolving products, with software playing a central role in extending their capability over time.
