Two-wheeler sales show robust growth in April 2022

HONDA MOTORCYCLE & SCOOTER INDIA: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India saw total sales (domestic & exports) close at 361,027 units, with 318,732 two-wheeler sales in domestic market. On overseas exports business front, HMSI exported 42,295 units for the month.

Registering 33% YOY growth in domestic sales over last year (240,101 units in April’21), recovery for the month leveraged support from market relaxations, favourable harvesting period and gradual opening of schools, colleges among other factors.

ROYAL ENFIELD: Royal Enfield posted sales of 62,155 motorcycles in the month of April, against the sales of 53,298 motorcycles for the same month last year. The company continued its remarkable run overseas with a year on year growth of 84% in sales outside India. Royal Enfield exported 8,303motorcycles during the month as compared to 4,509 during the same period last year. Despite the persistent challenges on the supply front, the company registered stable volumes in the domestic market with year on year growth of 10% over FY22.

TVS MOTOR COMPANY: TVS Motor Company sales grew by 24% from 238,983 units in the month of April 2021 to 295,308 units in April 2022.

 Two-Wheeler

Total two-wheelers sales grew by 24%, from 226,193 units in April 2021 to 280,022 units in April 2022.  Domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 37%, from 131,386 units in April 2021 to 180,533 units in April 2022.  

Motorcycle sales grew by 4%, from 133,227 units in April 2021 to 139,027 units in April 2022.  Scooter sales of the Company grew by 57%, from 65,213 units in April 2021 to 102,209 units in April 2022.

The shortage in the supply of semiconductors has impacted the production and sales of premium two-wheelers. 

International Business

The Company's total export sales grew by 6%, from 107,185 units in April 2021 to 113,427 units in April 2022.  Two-wheeler exports grew by 5%, from 94,807 units in April 2021 to 99,489 units in April 2022.

Three-Wheeler

Three-wheeler sales of the company grew by 20% from 12,790 units in April 2021 to 15,286 units in April 2022.

Electric Vehicle

The domestic two-wheeler sales include TVS iQube Electric sales of 1,420 units in April 2022 as against 307 units sold in April 2021.
