One of the doyen’s of the Indian auto industry, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, passed away in New Delhi on November 1, 2015 at 7.05 pm. He was 92 years old. Dr Munjal was the Founder of the diversified Hero Group. Dr. Munjal was also the Chairman Emeritus of Hero MotoCorp .
A first-generation entrepreneur, Padma Bhushan Brijmohan Lall led the Hero Group to a number of firsts. Under his leadership, Hero Cycles Limited became the world’s largest manufacturer of bicycles since 1986 and figures in the Guinness Book of World Records. Hero MotoCorp (Formerly Hero Honda Motors Ltd) is the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer now for 14 consecutive years.
An institution-builder, Dr. Lall also led the Hero Group to successfully venture into other areas such as auto ancillary, financial services, renewable energy, education and electronics. A committed philanthropist, Dr. Brijmohan Lall will always be remembered for his vision of sound business governance and value driven management practices. Known for his humility, he will continue to be an inspiration to everyone in the Hero family, a press release from Her MotoCorp noted.
