Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has appointed Kenichi Ayukawa as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, who will succeed Shinzo Nakanishi. The appointment will be effective April 1, 2013 as Nakanishi has attained the age of retirement. “The board of directors of the company at a meeting held today appointed Ayukawa as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in place of Nakanishi as the latter has attained the age of retirement,” the company said in a statement. The Board meeting of the company y was also attended by Osamu Suzuki, Chairman, Suzuki Motor Corporation, which owns 54.4pc of the BSE-listed firm. S Nakanishi, who has been helming the operations of Maruti Suzuki since 2007, has been associated with the company right from its inception in 1982. He served in various capacities in Maruti Suzuki for the past 30 years. The new incumbent, Kenichi Ayukawa has been associated with the European operations of Suzuki Motor Corporation
