Anant Talaulicar, Managing Director of the Cummins Group of companies in India has been awarded the President's Award for year 2011 by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), an apex Industry body representing leading vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers in India. Anant’s association with SIAM dates back to 2003 when he assumed responsibilities as one of the members of its executive committee. In 2007 he was appointed Chairman of the society’s Diesel Image Group. The President’s Award recognises Anant’s commitment to furthering the cause of the Society and the industry it represents. His support over the last few years in formulating policies relevant to the automobile industry and in advocating the cause of diesel technology has been largely instrumental in enhancing the perception of modern diesel engines along with low sulfur fuel as emissions friendly and energy efficient. The award was presented by Dr. Pawan Goenka, President - Mahindra Automotive and Farm Equipment sectors and outgoing President of SIAM at the Society’s Annual Convention held in New Delhi this year. SIAM which is in its 51st year, instituted the President’s Award in 2009. Since then, recipients of this award have included some of the most illustrious members of the Indian automotive fraternity – R Seshasayee from Ashok Leyland, S. Sandilya from Eicher Motors, Dr. Pawan Goenka from Mahindra & Mahindra and Dr. Wilfried Aulbur from Mercedes-Benz India. Pursuant to a seventeen-year long career with Cummins, initially in the United States and then in India, Anant was appointed the Chairman of Cummins India Limited and Managing Director of the Cummins Group of Companies in India in 2003, titles he continues to hold till date. In 2010, he was designated President of the Components Group, one of the four businesses of Cummins Inc, globally. Anant holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mysore University, a Masters degree in Science from University of Michigan and an MBA from Tulane University in the United States.
