In a landmark development for India’s automotive and mobility sector, ZF Group has secured three large test system orders including for powertrain, and tyre manufacturing and testing. The orders secured include 440 KW Differential unit test bench, tyre test benches for various machines used in efficiency, endurance and high-speed testing, and systems for end-of-line tyre testing. These multiple million-euro orders are for customers with pan India presence in auto segment. These orders secure ZF Group’s official entry into the Indian powertrain and next-generation mobility market.

The first project involves the supply of India’s first 440KW transmission test bench featuring a cutting-edge 3E dyno configuration. This state-of-the-art system is designed without any intermediate gearbox, significantly reducing energy losses and delivering best-in-class performance, dynamic and accuracy. The system includes a 3E dyno configuration engineered for optimal efficiency and data accuracy, along with a movable dyno capable of horizontal adjustments for enhanced flexibility. The direct shaft connection to the Device Under Test (DUT) eliminates the need for intermediate gearboxes or chain systems.
The two additional and significant business wins include several tyre R&D test benches for a leading tyre manufacturer, as well as three end-of-line test benches for passenger car tyres, which will be delivered to another Indian manufacturer. The R&D test benches comprise of a rolling resistance (efficiency) tester and several endurance and high-speed testers for passenger car and 2-Wheeler in various configurations.

The end-of-line (EOL) test benches are automated testing systems used at the end of the production line. Their primary purpose is to ensure product quality before the tires leave the factory.
Akash Passey, President, ZF Group India highlighted this milestone achievement, “This is a proud moment for ZF as we bring our advanced testing technology to India. These orders not just set a new benchmark in the segment but serve as a reference point for future projects in the region. These orders reinforce our commitment to innovation and excellence in engineering in automotive and industrial segments.”

With the ZF’s validation and development test facilities, customers improve the quality of driveline, active chassis, tires and wheels, brakes as well as batteries. This in turn hugely contributes to enhanced safety and comfort for the drivers in all weather conditions.
ZF product range covers the full span from individual test benches to complete test lines and brings the competence of a globally active engineering group, who continue developing solutions for the future of mobility, including the emerging requirements like autonomous driving and e-mobility.
The test bench orders strengthen ZF’s presence in India while aligning with the country’s vision for safer and sustainable next-generation mobility solutions. With this project, ZF introduces a new portfolio of mid-size and large-size powertrain benches, tire R&D testing machines and low speed uniformity and balancing test systems, which are tailored for the Indian market.
